কর্পোরেট মুনাফার বিনিময়ে মানুষের জীবন নিয়ে ছিনিমিনি খেলা চলবে না

ভারতের কমিউনিস্ট পার্টি (মার্কসবাদী)’র পলিট ব্যুরো নিম্নলিখিত বিবৃতি দিয়েছেঃ

ভারতের কমিউনিস্ট পার্টি (মার্কসবাদী ) র পলিট ব্যুরো সংগৃহীত ধান মজুদকে ইথানলে রূপান্তরিত করে জৈব জ্বালানী হিসাবে এবং স্যানিটাইজার তৈরির জন্য ব্যবহারের অমানবিক সিদ্ধান্তের তীব্র নিন্দা জানায়।

এই লকডাউনের ফলে লক্ষ লক্ষ পরিযায়ি শ্রমিক, অন্যান্য অসংগঠিত ক্ষেত্রের শ্রমিক সহ অগুণতি গরীব মানুষ এক ভয়াবহ পরিস্থিতির মধ্যে জীবনযাপন করছেন , খাদ্য সঙ্কটের দরুণ তারা অনাহারের দোরগড়ায় উপস্থিত হয়েছেন । এই অবস্থায় সরকারের এমন সিদ্ধান্ত তাদের কাছে চপেটাঘাতের শামিল। সিপিআই (এম) এর পক্ষ থেকে সকল অভাবগ্রস্তকে যে বিপুল খাদ্যভান্ডার মজুদ রয়েছে তা বিনামূল্যে বন্টনের জন্য বারবার অনুরোধ করা সত্ত্বেও, কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার রাজ্য সরকারগুলির মাধ্যমে সার্বজনীন গণবন্টনের জন্য খাদ্যশস্যের সংস্থান বাড়ায়নি।খাদ্যশস্য হওয়া উচিত মানুষের জন্য, জ্বালানির জন্য নয়,এফএওর পক্ষ থেকেও এটাই বলা হয়।

যখন আন্তর্জাতিক বাজারে তেলের দাম ঐতিহাসিকভাবে কম, এবং যখন লকডাউনের জন্য পেট্রল-চালিত গাড়ি রাস্তা থেকে উধাও সেই সময়ে পেট্রলে ইথানল মেশানোর জন্য মূল্যবান চাল ব্যবহারের যুক্তি বোধগম্যতার বাইরে। তেল আমদানির ব্যয় হ্রাস পেয়েছে এবং স্যানিটাইজারের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় অ্যালকোহল উৎপাদন করার জন্য দেশের অভ্যন্তরেই যথেষ্ট অব্যবহৃত রসদ রয়েছে।
লক্ষ লক্ষ মানুষ ক্ষুধা, নিরাশ্রয়,বঞ্চনার সম্মুখীন হয়েও বাঁচার জন্য সংগ্রাম করছে, কর্পোরেট মুনাফার বিনিময়ে তাদের জীবন নিয়ে ছিনিমিন খেলা চলবে না -এটা অপরাধ।


সিপিআই (এম) এর পলিট ব্যুরো অবিলম্বে এই জঘন্য সিদ্ধান্তটি প্রত্যাহার করার আহ্বান জানায় ।

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly condemns the inhuman decision by the Government of India to convert accumulated rice stocks into ethanol for use as bio-fuel and for manufacture of sanitizers.

This decision comes as a slap on the face of the millions of migrant workers, other unorganized sector workers and other poor who are suffering untold hardships including acute shortage of food bordering on starvation because of the lockdown. Despite repeated urging by the CPI(M) to distribute the huge food stock free to all needy, the Central government has not expanded provisioning of foodgrains for universal distribution through State Governments. Foodgrains should be for people, not for fuel, as also advocated by FAO.

The rationale for using valuable rice for ethanol blending in petrol at a time when international oil prices are at a historical low, and when most petrol-driven vehicles are off the roads due to the lockdown, is beyond comprehension. Cost of oil imports have reduced and there is a surplus unutilised capacity, domestically, for production of alcohol needed for sanitizers.

People’s lives, millions who are struggling to survive facing hunger, lack of shelter and deprivation, cannot be bartered for corporate profits. This is criminal.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) calls for the immediate reversal of this atrocious decision.
