ভারতের কমিউনিস্ট পার্টি (মার্কসবাদী)-র পলিট ব্যুরো বিজেপি এবং হিন্দুত্ববাদী সাম্প্রদায়িক শক্তিগুলি যেভাবে সংসদ কর্তৃক স্বীকৃত ‘বন্দে মাতরম’-এর ছয়টি স্তবককেই অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়ার প্রশ্নটিকে অপব্যবহার করছে, তার তীব্র বিরোধিতা করছে।
গানটিকে সরকারি ভাবে জাতীয় গান হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দেওয়ার ঐতিহাসিক প্রেক্ষাপট সম্পর্কে ভারতের কমিউনিস্ট পার্টি (মার্কসবাদী) আগেই তার বিস্তারিত মতামত প্রকাশ করেছে। বাস্তবতা হল, ‘আনন্দমঠ’ উপন্যাসের সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে কয়েক দশক পরে পরবর্তীকালে এই ছয়টি স্তবক সংযোজন করা হয়েছিল, যা বঙ্কিমচন্দ্র চট্টোপাধ্যায় রচনা করেছিলেন। এই ঐতিহাসিক বাস্তবতা এবং এর অন্তর্নিহিত তাৎপর্যের কারণেই রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর স্বয়ং এটিকে জাতীয় সঙ্গীত হিসেবে গ্রহণযোগ্য বলে মনে করেননি।

পলিট ব্যুরো মনে করে, এটি দেশের মানুষের ঐক্যকে বিঘ্নিত করার একটি পদক্ষেপ। বিদ্রূপের বিষয় হল, যারা স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামের সময় ‘বন্দে মাতরম’ স্লোগান উচ্চারণ করার সাহসও দেখায়নি, তারাই আজ এই উদ্যোগ নিচ্ছে। ভারতের কমিউনিস্ট পার্টি (মার্কসবাদী) দৃঢ়ভাবে বিশ্বাস করে, সংবিধানস্বীকৃত সমস্ত ধারণা ও মূল্যবোধকে সম্মান জানাতে হবে, কারণ এগুলি ভারতের ধারণার অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ এবং বহুত্ববাদ ও অন্তর্ভুক্তির স্বীকৃতিকে ধারণ করে।

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
On the Misuse of Vande Mataram
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly disapproves the manner in which the BJP and the Hindutva communal forces are misusing the question of prioritising ‘Vande Mataram’ with all the six stanzas as legislated by the Parliament.
The CPI(M) has earlier expressed its comprehensive views on the question of the historical context in which the song was rendered officially as the National Song. Fact is, the six stanzas were added subsequently after a lapse of decades to dovetail with the Anandamath novel, by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. It is on the basis of this historical fact and the implication, that no one less than Rabindranath Tagore himself found this unacceptable as the National Anthem.
There are no reservations about the recitation of the first two stanzas of ‘Vande Mataram’ as has been done always, during the freedom struggle and in the Constituent Assembly. However, after the passage of upgrading the status with the addition of all six stanzas, attempts are being made to use the rendering of this version as the single point marker for patriotism. It clearly betrays the Hindutva forces’ communal and divisive objectives. The hypocritical style of wearing patriotism on its sleeve is exposed by the act of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker walking out midway during the rendering of the National Anthem.
The Polit Bureau feels it is disruptive for the unity of the people of the country, ironically initiated by those who did not have the gumption of mouthing the ‘Vande Mataram’ slogan during the freedom struggle.
